Neighborhood Watch Activity
November
2nd - A breaking and entering occurred in Williams Homestead (Balsam/Burr Oak area) at approximately 10:30 am. A neighbor noticed the suspicious activity and called the police. No one has been apprehended at this time.
September
8th - During the early morning hours, the sign at 226 N. Bridge Street (accountant's office) was broken in two; letters were removed from the Carl's sign and strewn down East Road; and, several paper boxes were damaged.
- At 1 pm a resident noticed that the (4) flower boxes on the west side of the bridge were in the river. The metal bands appeared to have been cut. A police report was filed and the boxes were retrieved by Village employees on the 9th.
August
19th - At approximately 8 pm, 911 was called regarding shots heard in the area of the island. The State Police and Village staff found three yound men with air guns shooting frogs. The men left peaceably when informed of the the park rules/hours.
18th - At about 9pm three men from Holt were found to have started a fire on the island (in the area at the end of W. Quincy Street). Village staff, fire Department staff and the Eaton County Sheriff Department responded. The men left peaceably when informed of the park rules/hours.
18th - Last night or early this morning numerous mail boxes, paper boxes and house for sale signs were damaged along West Jefferson, East Washington and Bridge Streets.
11th - The Village Office was informed that a break-in and attempted break-in occurred to homes in the 4200 block of Smith Road (north of Vermontville). The activity occurred during the day between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. and the police are interested in a small green or teal car.
10th to 14th - Sometime during this period a locked mailbox in River Run Estates was broken into. Nothing was inside at the time.
1st - A male entered the business at 250 1/2 S. Bridge Street (Tod's Tune Ups) at 4:00 p.m. and stole a Stihl chain saw. He exited to a waiting green autombile in the parking lot of the post office (driven by another male) and they sped away.
July
30th - A vehicle at the Misty Cove Senior Housing on East Road was broken in to.
