News You Can Use

Island Park Fund Raising Campaign Launched

In August, the Parks and Recreation Task Force officially launched a campaign to raise funds for park improvements.  A master plan has been developed and an application submitted to the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund for $170,000 toward the first phase of development (improved parking, two canoe/kayak launches, a permanent bridge and connecting pathways).  The Task Force hopes to raise funds in the amount of $55,000 to either match the grant or begin construction in the absence of an award.  Recreational development of the island and surrounding area has been under consideration since the Village acquired the property in 2004.  For more information about the grant, the master plan and the fund raising campaign please go the "Parks and Recreation" page.
